Television's No. 1 new drama, The Good Doctor, has been given a full-season order, Channing Dungey, president, ABC Entertainment, said today.
"We are thrilled to announce that we are giving our viewers additional episodes of The Good Doctor," said Channing Dungey, president, ABC Entertainment. "We have an amazing team in front of and behind the camera, led by Freddie Highmore's incredibly nuanced performance as Dr. Shaun Murphy, and we're confident the show will continue to captivate our audience."
Season to date, The Good Doctor ranks as Monday's No. 1 drama broadcast show in Adults 18-49 and in Total Viewers, improving the 10 o'clock hour for ABC by 50%. The new ABC drama is also the biggest gainer in TV playback, with its debut telecast jumping by 5.5 million viewers making it the biggest debut for any new series on any network in 3 years. After 3 days of TV playback, ABC's new drama grew to 16.9 million Total Viewers from the 11.4 million in Live + Same Day and a 3.7 rating with Adults 18-49 from a 2.2 in Live + Same Day.
The Good Doctor is about Dr. Shaun Murphy (Freddie Highmore), a young surgeon with autism and savant syndrome, who relocates from a quiet country life to join the prestigious St. Bonaventure hospital's surgical unit. Alone in the world and unable to personally connect with those around him, his only advocate, Dr. Aaron Glassman (Richard Schiff), challenges the skepticism and prejudices of the hospital's board and staff when he brings him in to join the team. Shaun will need to work harder than he ever has before, as he navigates his new environment and relationships to prove to his colleagues that his extraordinary medical gifts will save lives.
"The Good Doctor" airs Mondays at 10:00 p.m. ET on The ABC Television Network.
The series stars Freddie Highmore as Dr. Shaun Murphy, Antonia Thomas as Dr. Claire Browne, Nicholas Gonzalez as Dr. Neil Melendez, Chuku Modu as Dr. Jared Kalu, Beau Garrett as Jessica Preston, Hill Harper as Dr. Marcus Andrews, Richard Schiff as Dr. Aaron Glassman and Tamlyn Tomita as Allegra Aoki.
The series is from Sony Pictures Television and ABC Studios. David Shore is writer and executive producer. Daniel Dae Kim, David Kim and Sebastian Lee are also executive producers. ____________________
Anyone watch?
I am addicted to the series, because of Freddie Highmore. I think he's brilliant in the role of a young surgeon battling the effects of autism and savant syndrome. I first saw Freddie as a young boy in AUGUST RUSH the movie and he was brilliant in that as well.

Im on the fence. I believe Shawn will prove him wrong or use him in both areas. Shawn is a good surgeon but he does make a better diagnostician. IMO yes i've seen it...a spoiler spot on other groups well it didn't happen what i wanted to happen, maybe in the next eppy we'll see not too sure if i like the new cheif or not susan Yes I agree infact Shawn has proven him wrong already. Maybe the new cheif will give Shawn another chance with a warning and give him his old job back as a surgeon

SPOILER!
Great episode. I didn't see him asking anyone other than Leah out but did see sort of a connection between him and the other girl. Love his excitement when she said yes to a date...he was so happy, he forgot to give her the flowers and chocolates lol
And Yay! He is a surgeon again.
Loved how Claire was able to save the patient by looking through Dr Murphy's eyes.

I think in the new season (hope there is) there is going to be a triangle. I think Leah will become jealous of the relationship that Shaun has with the other gal and step up to pursue him. Claire seems to be in tune with Shaun more than anyone and supports him big time. Did you pick up on how COCKY Dr. Jackson Han was to Dr. Andrews, saying something about you wouldn't fire me because it will make you look bad. (I have to watch it again to get the exact words; it's on cable demand) That was just enough for Dr. Andrews to get Dr. Glassman to advocate for him in that meeting. HOORAY he was fired. Dr. Han's cockiness did him in. I loved how Glassman didn't give up on the waitress gal. True Pitszal, Freddie is totally different from his TV character. @pitszal2, Susan, Allen,@angela, Flipe4uSorry, I had the wrong show. Jimmy Kimmel. 2 Years Earlier! Excellent Video Of The Cast.

Dazzal, I use an app to watch new episodes. Episodes are usually available a couple hours after their original airtime. I watched those same videos on YouTube last night.
