In the late ’50s, a little-known songwriter named Berry Gordy took $800 he scrounged together from family and a few payments to found Tamla Records—better known as Motown Records.
Let’s take a trip to Hitsville and go through just a few, enduring singles from Motown. From Marvin Gaye to The Supremes here are 10 must-know songs from that golden era.
According to Berry Gordy, this morning on cable TV, he named the #1 Motown hit of all time. Feel free to vote, and in about two weeks I'll supply the answer to what I learned from Gordy. It's not what I thought!
Thanks for voting!
PS: There are a lot of Motown lists on the internet. This is from Berry Gordy, who started the evolution of Hitsville music. If you don't care about this poll, then you're not obligated to vote.
Please, if you know the answer, do not give it away or search the Internet. It's just a guessing poll.

The Motown years were the best! I love each and every song on the above list, but if I could only hear one of them again for the rest of my life it has to be My Girl.

The Motown years were the best! I love each and every song on the above list, but if I could only hear one of them again for the rest of my life it has to be My Girl. Foxy, me as well. They chose the right singer, David Ruffin, to sing the main part of the song, with the help of the group. A magnificent song! My all-time favorite, besides MY GUY by Mary Wells.
The Real Temptations
Movie Version and these guys portrayed them beautifully!
I love this movie! Leon played the part of David Ruffin.

^ The GOAT! Today's young people can't hold a candle to those silky smooth harmonies, memorable lyrics and style. Rap, IMHO, is sub par and doesn't even qualify as music.

8. “I Heard It Through The Grapevine” By Marvin Gaye I forgot to give the answer. KERRI is the only one that guessed correctly. Did you see that special, Kerri? This was on a cable TV special with Berry Gordy giving the answer.

Kerri , Flipe4u , Kikipetie , Foxy , MisterNostalgic ,No, I never saw the special. I misread the question in the first place. I thought it was asking what my favorite Motown song was. (among the choices) I just love the song and always still get the urge to dance to it when I hear it.

I just picked my favorite from that list, even though there were a couple others that I liked.
