I have a pretty extensive record collection including my Mom's 78 records featuring some fabulous black artists from back in the day. Sadly, many of these wonderful entertainers didn't get the respect they deserved and were made to enter the venues they were appearing at through the service entrance, particularly in the deep south. One Las Vegas hotel actually drained and disinfected their swimming pool because guests complained after seeing Sammy Davis Jr. use it.
I would like to pay tribute to some of these amazing people who contributed to the soundtrack of so many people's lives and whose work stands the test of time. Feel free to contribute to this thread.

Look at the above 4 videos. Another Michael Jackson, before Michael. He's really good! Never heard much about him.

^ Wow, wow, wow Dazzal . So much talent I don't know where to begin!!! Great additions to this thread. In addition to the great harmonies and dancing, I just love how sharp the men dressed and the ladies beautiful hairstyles and pretty dresses & shoes. I think we've lost something over the decades. We're so casual now people go out in pajama pants and ripped up jeans. Young people today don't know what they're missing. People back in the day didn't have to spend a fortune on designer label shoes & clothes to look like a million bucks! Sister Rosetta Tharp is a legend. That young boy who was channeling Fats Waller playing boogie woogie was so cute and talented and his feet didn't even touch the floor. LOL Frankie Lyman looked like a young version of Nat King Cole in that video. Did you know he went on to lead a group called Frankie Lyman & the Teenagers, his voice is unmistakable. They had many hit songs you would recognize, like this one...

Foxy, great information about Frankie Lyman & the Teenagers. I love that song. We don't hear about these talented people today. I agree, the fashions back then were classy and respectful. I hadn't heard of Sister Rosetta Tharp.

Great videos Dazzal. All of them have such wonderful talent. Great video Foxy. One of my favorite songs. The fashions of today that some of these celebrities wear leave nothing to the imagination. And some of the teenagers of today also.

Sugar Chile Robinson is such a cute chunk and excellent at what he does. Singing and playing the piano.
Frankie still reminds me of a combination of Michael Jackson and Nat King Cole.
Have you two seen Carrie Underwood and Kelsea Ballerini perform? I saw the recent CMT awards and it seems both try to outdo who can wear the skimpiest outfits. Kelsea was prancing around in a bathing suit type outfit. Carrie is always showing her legs off. Both are beauties, but why do they feel it's necessary to show their bodies? I feel they are asking for trouble even if they have body guards. MisterNostalgic, Foxy,

No, I haven't seen Carrie Underwood and Ballerini perform Dazzal. I agree, they are asking for trouble showing so much of their bare bodies off in those skimpy outfits.
